Taberna da Poncha

Bar | €

Located on the road that connects Ribeira Brava to Serra D’Água, Taberna da Poncha is one of the oldest and most popular taverns to have Poncha, which is part of the island’s cultural identity and a must. Many bars serve Poncha, but none are as traditional and popular with tourists and locals alike. Rustic in appearance, but with unique details such as walls lined with business cards, notes and scarves from football clubs. Have fun while your Poncha is freshly prepared, life and in colour!

The traditional Poncha takes lemon, cane sugar, brandy and orange juice, but other variations are served, with passion fruit, for example. To accompany, you buy bags of peanuts, whose tradition is to throw the shells on the ground. Thus, you will be able to understand the popularity of the house by the amount of shells on the floor.

Open every day from 10:00 am to 01:00 am.
