Located in Funchal Old Town, Caravel Art Center is the Island's international greatest art gallery. Nevertheless, more than a gallery, it is the residence of young Portuguese and foreign artists and potters, representing their interests much further than Madeira. All pieces have an authenticity certificate and can be shipped anywhere.
Artistic trends and techniques diverge, and you can find collections of different artists on display, such as Anna Fedorova (graphic art and painting), Freta NGO (portrait and sculpture), Marta Horodniczy (illustration and painting) and Samuel Santos (expressionism, various techniques).
The gallery also has a ceramics collection, resulting from a careful selection of original designs, elements and modern art. Take the opportunity to explore the tiles collection and the caricatured sculptures of island life by a famous Portuguese artist. Visit the Store and Art Corner Food Café.
Open from Monday to Friday from 11 am to 6 pm. Free entrance.
