Located in Avenida Arriaga, The Ritz Madeira is a café/restaurant that shows the most exuberant and majestic side of Funchal. It is one of the oldest commercial spaces on the Island, established by Christian Ritz in 1910 for high society soirees. After a fire, the building was fully restored but kept the original accessories intact. Notice the details of the tiles that tell the story of Madeira. Upstairs is a large ornate gilded mirror, which has travelled from Cardiff Castle. Enjoy occasional live music or Dinner Theatre events.
The Ritz Madeira is the ideal stopover for lunch, homemade ice cream and a cocktail out of hours. On the menu, find light meals and snacks with the flavours of Madeira and Italy, like pizzas, hamburgers, pasta and sandwiches, typical Madeira sweets and traditional Italian ice cream. Wines and cocktails are the kings of the menu, but you will find lighter alcoholic drinks, such as sangria and beer. You can opt for a latte or tea. The average price is €30/2 pax.
