Praia da Calheta
Beach
Calheta Beach, inaugurated in 2008 and located near the Recreational Harbor on the island’s west side, has an extension of 100 meters and is the first beach on Madeira Island to have sand coming directly from Morocco to the famous characteristic pebbles all around.
Here you will find a beach that has the necessary infrastructure to support and provide access to all bathers and tourists (people with reduced mobility as well), either through the presence of changing rooms, sanitary facilities, nautical activities (canoeing, windsurfing board rentals, and catamarans), as well as through snack-bars and restaurants that can be found along the main avenue.
Getting to Calheta Beach can be done by car, cab or bus (lines 80 and 142).
