Bica da Cana

The Bica da Cana viewpoint, with 1580 meters of altitude and located in the parish of Canhas, municipality of Ponta do Sol, offers a panoramic view over the vast mountain cluster that fills the Madeira island.

This route offers, to all nature lovers, an extraordinary experience that they shall never forget. Over a unique atmosphere, the hiker can contemplate the sea of clouds that usually glide smoothly down the mountains as if it were a liquid. With views over Pico Ruivo, the highest peak in Madeira, and good visibility up to Pico do Areeiro; it is also one of the best places to watch the sunrise.

To get to the Miradouro Bica da Cana, you can go by car, cab or even spend the night in the nearest town called Calheta, which is 20 minutes away by car from the beginning of the trail.
