Pico Ruivo
Viewpoint
Pico Ruivo is located 1861 meters above sea level, the highest point of Madeira island and the third highest mountain in Portugal.
This viewpoint offers all those who manage to reach the great summit views over multiple locations, such as Curral das Freiras, in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, the various plateaus of Santana, and the deep valleys of Ribeira Grande and São Jorge. From the top of the mountain, you can enjoy excellent sights of Ponta de São Lourenço, Paul da Serra, Porto Santo, and the Desertas Islands.
Besides these breathtaking views, the vegetation and the surrounding geology will transform the whole trip through this mountainous trail into something indispensable in your passage through the Madeiran archipelago.
To get here, you can go by car, cab, bus, or through tourist companies that offer the transport service to the Teixeira front.
