Although inhabited for centuries, Fajã dos Padres have never been easily accessible. The entrance is at Quinta Grande, coming from Estrada Padre António Dinis Henriques, less than 15 minutes from Funchal. The cable car name derives from the small land by the sea cultivated by some Jesuit priests.
The trip is quick, about three minutes in a descending line of 300 metres. As you descend, let yourself feel the fresh air and see part of the island's southern coast, the small bay, Fajã and the sea. Don't think about the quick trip you have just finished because you'll be surprised by so much beauty on arrival.
Feel the harmony and well-being in Fajã, and contemplate the cliff, the sky and the sea with clear waters that invite you to swim. The only setback was up there, as it becomes difficult to park without a park.
Open every day from 10 am to 7 pm in summer. In winter, only until 6 pm.
